CM Biomass Becomes Northflare Energy
Following several years of significant development, independent wood pellet trader CM Biomass is changing its name to Northflare Energy and introducing a new visual identity. The change reflects a stronger organization, consolidated ownership, and ambitious plans for the future.
As part of the company’s development, ownership was consolidated under the family-owned United Shipping & Trading Company (USTC). The consolidated ownership also means that the timing is right for a new name that reflects the company CM Biomass has become and provides a strong platform for its continued development. At the same time, ownership under USTC creates greater opportunities to leverage relevant expertise and synergies across the Group’s other businesses.
“Northflare Energy has undergone significant development since we became the majority owner in 2021, but its fundamental DNA remains unchanged. Its expertise, market insight, and commercial understanding are the qualities that originally attracted us and continue to underpin our confidence in its long-term potential. As sole owner, we have great confidence in Northflare Energy’s management and strategic direction. The new identity reflects both the company’s heritage and its future direction,” says Nina Østergaard, CEO and co-owner of USTC, and Deputy Chair of Northflare Energy’s Board of Directors.
The name change builds on the company’s heritage, existing strengths, and position as a global market leader. “The process leading to the new name and visual identity has been inclusive and has involved both employees and external business partners. Their input has been valuable, and the response to Northflare Energy has been very positive. The name brings renewed energy and reflects the spirit and direction we want for the company, while our expertise, quality, and reliability of supply remain unchanged,” says Simon Plagborg, Northflare Energy CEO.
The company’s legal entity stays the same. The company registration number, customer contracts, supplier agreements, and other obligations also remain unchanged, and customers and business partners will continue to work with the same people.
