L’Anse Warden Electric Co. has been selected as the first plant in Michigan to take part in the new Federal Biomass Crop Assistance Program, a new federal program designed to help develop the biomass industry.
The BCAP helps the participating plants by matching 50% of the amount paid to their suppliers.
Warden Electric is one of only a few companies selected for the program.
The plant currently produces 20 megawatts of electricity by using 400 tons/day of woody biomass.
