The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), a subsidiary of DPL Inc., has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for biofuels for use at its generating stations.

“Biofuels are just one part of DP&L’s strategy to incorporate renewable energy resources into our generation portfolio,” said Paul Barbas, DPL president and chief executive officer. “We continue to seek environmentally responsible and cost-effective ways to comply with legislative requirements and meet our customers’ energy needs.”

DP&L plans to purchase a maximum of 15,000 tons of biomass fuels by the end of 2009 and a maximum of 100,000 tons in the following five years, in keeping with Ohio energy legislation, Ohio Amended Substitute Senate Bill 221. All biofuel products submitted must meet the requirements set forth by the Ohio Revised Code and as defined in the RFP.

All proposals submitted in response to this RFP must be received by DP&L no later than July 10, 2009. A link to the RFP appears at the bottom of the DPL Inc. website.
